The 7th International Strawberry Symposium, Beijing, China

Modern Agriculture Company’s (MACO) research and development strawberry manager and the strawberry fertigation manager attended the 7th international strawberry symposium which was held in Beijing, China from February 18 to 22, 2012. The symposium provided an international meeting point for researchers, academics, technicians, sales representatives and other professionals from the sector, thus widening our professional contact and creating new opportunities, including establishing new collaboration.

A total of 12 strawberry experts have delivered lectures which covered the main topics related to the strawberry industry including physiology, production techniques, plant nurseries, crop protection, soil disinfestations, soilless and cubic culture.

The scientific program was a key point connecting academics and professionals of the sector.

MACO participated actively in the scientific program of the symposium and presented a research paper, which focused on the impact of using composted manure with effective microorganisms (EM) on strawberry production in sandy soils.

During the 7th international strawberry symposium, important lectures of keynote speakers in the strawberry field, presentations as well as technical visits have taken place.

The technical visits focused on different strawberry aspects and included, the strawberry Expo garden, the strawberry solar green house growing base, the institute of forestry and pomology, Beijing academy of agricultural and forestry sciences, the strawberry post harvest and fresh processing laboratory and Beijing municipal strawberry bioengineering and biotechnology research center.
